Who is Mrs. McLelland?
My family at the Fourth of July parade in my home town of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
My husband's name is Steve. My son, Collin, is 6 1/2 and will be in first grade this year. My daughter, Reese, just turned four. As we begin to write this year, you will learn about the fun things my family and I do together. I will also write about the funny things my children do everyday- good writers write about what they know!
Background
I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Maybe some of your parents went to the University of Michigan! My house growing up was very close to The Big House (the football stadium) and I used to park cars in our yard for the football games! Fall Saturdays were very fun in my neighborhood! After college, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia where I met my husband Steve. We lived around Atlanta for eight years before moving to Buffalo Grove. We live in District 96 but eventually my kids will go to school with my future students at Stevenson!
Education
Even though I grew up near the University of Michigan, I went to Michigan State for college- Go Spartans! I graduated with a degree in Child Psychology. After I moved to Atlanta, I went right back to school at Georgia State University and earned a degree in Elementary Education. After a few years of teaching I continued my education with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kennesaw State University.
Teaching Experience
While living in Atlanta, I taught third and fourth grades. After moving to Buffalo Grove, I taught second grade in Northbrook District 27 and am now thrilled to be at Half Day School! I love teaching third grade and feel so lucky to be a such a wonderful school with terrific students!!!
