Well this was quite a short week at school! I hope you all are staying warm in your homes and enjoyed the extra days of family time.
In reading/writing this week we spent our time focusing on our book review. We have talked about the organization of our review and started or introduction paragraphs. Next week we will continue to work on writing the book’s summary and our opinion/recommendations of the book.
We were also in the computer lab with Mrs. Ristow, our technology teacher, learning about some of the tools for the PARCC test we will be taking. There are many cool tools that enable children to highlight text, eliminate answers, and to later review questions.
Today we took a pretest for a new spelling list.
In math we have continues our work with division. They students were introduced to the concept of remainders- and we learned to look at the item being divided to see if it can be broken in to parts, like a cookie, or must remain as an extra, like a balloon.
I am asking that the children log on to Xtra Math everyday to practice their facts. The 10 minutes on the 20:10 log should be devoted to straight fact practice – Next week, I will send home the fact check we took today so that you can see how your child is doing with the multiplication and division facts- if they have met our goals, their math time may be spent in other ways.
We had a wonderful experience studying the map of Europe today. We explored land features, locations, and points of interest. Please check out the pictures below.
Stay warm!
